# Comfy Yolk-Inspired Seats The Yolk Chair is Inspired by Eggs By Joey Haar | Published 2018-01-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yolk-chair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2018/01/16/sunny-side-up-seating/) As its name makes clear, the Yolk chair is directly inspired by the delicate, delicious, cholesterol-filled center of eggs, but while the chair is as comfy as eggs yolks are tasty, it certainly isn't delicate (it's unclear whether the [single-person sofa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo-lounge-chair) is filled with cholesterol). Designed by Ji Eun Kang, the playful seat is both cozy and durable, serving as a great spot to sit and read a book over a breakfast of sunny-side up eggs. The Yolk chair has no legs, so the foam blob sits directly against the ground. The bottom of the chair is covered by a smooth wood surface in lieu of legs, allowing the chair to swivel freely and give the sitter a 360-degree range of motion. Though yellow, the upholstery is a pleasingly mustard hue that should blend nicely with modern design tendencies. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Egg-inspired Design:** Opportunity to create unique product designs drawing inspiration from eggs. - **Alternative Furniture:** Opportunity to design unconventional seating options that don't rely on traditional legs or frames. - **360-degree Range of Motion:** Opportunity to create furniture designs that allow for increased flexibility and mobility. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity to create unique, eye-catching furniture pieces that stand out in a crowded market. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate playfulness and quirkiness into modern interior design schemes. - **Product Design:** Opportunity to create innovative products inspired by everyday objects, such as eggs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stylishly Functional Yellow Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellow-chair.md) - [Uniquely Structured Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yay-chair.md) - [Chaotically Natural Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kkochgalam-chair.md) - [Cocoon-Like Knitted Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-chair-1.md) - [Sea Creature-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seat-urchin.md) - [Balloon-Like Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seungjin-yang.md) - [Adaptable Ergonomic Office Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-moon-chair.md) - [Childhood-Informed Dome Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clodette-chair.md) - [Sculptural Upholstered Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amia.md)
