# Delicate Eerie Lighting The YOKO Lamp by Anderssen & Voll is Inspired by Northern Light By Meghan Young | Published 2013-04-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoko-lamp References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/04/09/yoko-by-anderssen-voll-for-foscarini/) & [anderssen-voll](http://www.anderssen-voll.com/) Reminiscent of a jelly fish, the YOKO Lamp is at once eerie and delicate. Although not necessarily inspired by nature, it nevertheless challenges the archetypal design of table lamps. In place of the typical cloth lampshade is an [bubble-like glass top](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-forest-glss) while the base itself glows in place of a bulb. Overall, the YOKO Lamp has an ethereal presence that many homes could benefit from. Designed by [Anderssen & Voll](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kipu) for [Foscarini](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-1), the YOKO Lamp may be conceptual, but it also very sophisticated. A perfect balance of simplicity and lightness, the YOKO Lamp was inspired by the image of a bubble about to burst, perhaps due to the heat of the light itself as well as the Northern light, which informed the choice of colors available. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Eerie Lighting:** The YOKO Lamp challenges the traditional design of table lamps with its eerie and delicate aesthetic. - **Bubble-like Design:** The bubble-like glass top of the YOKO Lamp offers a unique and ethereal presence. - **Sophisticated Simplicity:** The YOKO Lamp balances simplicity and lightness in its conceptual design. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** The YOKO Lamp presents disruptive innovation opportunities for interior designers to create unique and otherworldly lighting concepts. - **Lighting Design:** The YOKO Lamp's bubble-like design opens up possibilities for innovative lighting solutions in the lighting design industry. - **Home Decor:** The eerie and delicate aesthetic of the YOKO Lamp can inspire new and captivating home decor trends for consumers seeking a unique atmosphere. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Whimsical Glass Bubbled Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peeka.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Sleek Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunar-lamp-concept.md) - [Japanese Lantern-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/madco.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Posh Paper Craft-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japandi-lamp.md) - [Evening Sky-Inspired Lighting Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evening-sky.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md)
