# Spherically Stacked Seating Yin Yang Chair is a Pair of Seats That Each Forms Half of a Sculpture By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yin-yang-chair References: [furnitureserved](http://www.furnitureserved.com/gallery/The-yin-yang-chair/2237210) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/The-yin-yang-chair/2237210) Furniture can certainly be both decorative and functional, but the Yin Yang Chair takes the former aspect to the next level. When they're set up so to welcome sitters, the [armchairs flaunt elegant fluid lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-heart-chair) and beautiful curvaceous bases; however, when they're pieced together, the furnishings take on an unexpected form. Nina Vlajkovic's single-seater sofas are gorgeous enough to be kept separated for continuous use as prized pieces in one's living room. They feature glossy convex shells of black or white, supportive armrests and backrests and plushy upholstery to keep you cozy. But should you prefer to keep the Yin Yang Chair set for overflow seating, one object can be placed on top of the other to conserve interior space. Together, the duo forms a beautiful [two-toned sphere](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001) that gives the product its name. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Functional Decorative Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create furniture that serves both functional and decorative purposes, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of living spaces. - **Modular Seating Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop seating solutions that can be easily transformed and rearranged to optimize space utilization and accommodate different seating needs. - **Creative Forms and Shapes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore unconventional designs and unique forms in furniture to create visually appealing and conversation-starting pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate artistic and functional elements in interior design concepts to create unique and visually stunning living spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate modular and space-saving designs in furniture manufacturing processes to cater to the evolving needs of modern consumers. - **Home Décor Retail:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Curate collections of furniture and decorative pieces that showcase creative forms and shapes, appealing to customers looking for unique design statements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Zen-Focused Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goyo-chair.md) - [Modern Seating Centerpieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-chair.md) - [Anatomical Lounge Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/himalaya-pelvis-chair.md) - [Balloon-Like Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seungjin-yang.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Dynamic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-series.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Circular Modernist Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerogravity-chair.md) - [Uniquely Structured Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yay-chair.md)
