# Geometry-Exploring Lights OMA and Delta Light's XY180 Collection Experiments with Lines By Amy Duong | Published 2018-04-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xy180 References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2018/04/11/video-interview-ippolito-pestellini-laparelli-oma-xy180-delta-light-movie/) & [deltalight](https://www.deltalight.com/en) [Delta](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vantagenova-delta-one) Light first showcased its XY180 collection at Milan's design week last year as a range of [modular lighting fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keops) that are designed around a hinged system, enabling a series of various light to be connected. The lighting components feature a series of tubes in different lengths and spotlights in two different sizes. This marks the first time that [OMA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crafted-world-exhibition-1) has created a lighting system that has such a strong identity. Drawing upon the concepts of geometric patterns, the XY180 collection explores the essentials of a point, line and surface. The design team aimed to create something that would deliver a diffused soft light -- something that lies in between strong illumination with good distribution to that it would remain bright in the horizontal tube. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Modular Lighting Fixtures:** The trend of modular lighting fixtures allows for customizable and adaptable lighting solutions. - **Geometric Patterns in Design:** The trend of incorporating geometric patterns in design adds a modern and visually striking element to products and spaces. - **Diffused Soft Light:** The trend of using diffused soft light creates a comfortable and ambient atmosphere in different environments. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can benefit from modular lighting fixtures to create unique and personalized lighting designs for spaces. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** The lighting manufacturing industry can explore the use of geometric patterns in their designs to create innovative and visually appealing lighting products. - **Hospitality:** The hospitality industry can utilize diffused soft lighting to create a welcoming and relaxing ambiance for guests in hotels, restaurants, and other establishments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Linear Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superwire.md) - [Geometric Bar-Like Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/empyrean.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drape-light.md) - [Architectural Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lighting-innovation.md) - [Modular Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crystal-links.md) - [Concentric Geometric Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caleide.md) - [Physics-Based Artful Light Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aura-collection-1.md) - [Orchestral-Themed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/symphony-collection.md) - [Elegant Geometric Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometric-light-fixture.md)
