# Gun-Wielding Critters Xiau-Fong Wee Depicts Assassin Animals By Matt Ho | Published 2011-09-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xiau-fong-wee References: [hifructose](http://hifructose.com/the-blog/1764-the-art-of-xiau-fong-wee-.html) & [xiaufong](http://xiaufong.com/) Certain animals can be slightly viscous, and for those readers with any doubts, just take a look at Xiau-Fong Wee's [aggressive critter illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears). Xiau-Fong Wee is a talented artist who takes some of the most [cuddly animals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawmypet) and transforms them into gun-wielding critters who are more than ready to "pop a cap." The [black and white illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/richard-scarry) show off realistic drawings of various creatures ready to take on anything that appears threatening. What's even more hilarious is that every animal depicted is a herbivore. Any carnivore out there who wants to take a bit out of these guys will likely suffer the unfortunate fate of a bullet to the head. Looks like survival of the fittest in the animal kingdom no longer applies to a creature's dietary preference. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Aggressive Animal Illustration:** Artists can experiment with depicting animals in new and unexpected ways, such as transforming them into gun-wielding characters. - **Subversion of Stereotypes:** Playing with the usual roles of herbivores and carnivores in the animal kingdom can lead to innovative and humorous representations. - **Dark Humor Art:** Continuing the trend of using humor to subvert expectations, artists can explore darker themes in their work for added satirical effect. ### Who This Affects Most - **Graphic Design:** Designers can integrate similar subversive themes and humor into corporate branding and advertisements for added impact. - **Animation:** Animators can utilize the concept of aggressive animal illustration to create unique and captivating characters for television or film. - **Fine Arts:** Artists can push boundaries and explore darker, satirical themes in their paintings and sculptures, incorporating ideas like gun-toting critters for humorous effect. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unique Hybrid Mystery Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animal-x-vegetable-gachapon.md) - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [First-Person Vintage-Inspired Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mouse.md) - [Playful Cat Illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-meow.md) - [Hand-Drawn Cartoon NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/madsteez.md) - [Animal-Themed Streetwear Styles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cactus-plant-flea-market-1.md) - [Aggressively Armored Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/battletank-mouse.md) - [Canadian Animal-Themed Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-animals-maple-syrup-jar.md) - [Minimalist Pet-Inspired Decor Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-pets.md)
