# Curved Stadium Structures The Xi’an International Football Centre Creates a New Urban Landmark By Amy Duong | Published 2025-10-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xian-international-football-centre References: [zaha-hadid](http://zaha-hadid.com/) The [Xi’an International Football Centre](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xian-international-football) designed by [Zaha Hadid Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greater-bay-area-sports-centre) introduces a 60,000-seat arena defined by fluid geometry and lightweight engineering. The structure’s curving roof integrates a cable-net system and translucent canopy that allows daylight to reach the natural grass field while providing shade for spectators. The stadium’s sweeping form blends with the city’s grid, transforming movement and atmosphere into a single visual flow. Its design emphasizes performance and sustainability while maintaining an unmistakable sculptural quality. Located in Xi’an’s Fengdong district, the complex connects open public plazas with landscaped terraces that encourage pedestrian activity around the venue. The roof’s aerodynamic form reduces material use and supports passive ventilation, minimizing energy demand. By merging architecture, technology, and civic identity, the project redefines what [large-scale sports infrastructure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allelectric-stadium) can represent within a contemporary urban fabric.
