While this edition showcases a visually distinct aesthetic with its see-through effect, it retains the core features of the [Xbox Series S/X](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pastels-collection) controller. However, this controller is one of the first arriving in Xbox's new sustainable packaging. Notably, this includes a QR code-based user manual instead of a paper copy. “Single-use plastics have been removed from the packaging and the traditional paper manual has been replaced with a QR code for a digital quick start guide,” says Daniel Ruiz, senior marketing manager for Xbox accessories. “Additionally, the packaging is now 22 percent smaller and 21 percent lighter, further reducing its environmental footprint (previously 177mm x 175.4mm x 72mm and 152.3g).” Image Credit: Microsoft ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 27% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Translucent Electronics:** The 'Sky Cipher Special Edition' showcases a resurgence in the popularity of see-through designs, emphasizing the inner mechanics of electronic devices. - **Sustainable Packaging:** Xbox's new controller packaging eliminates single-use plastics and reduces size and weight, highlighting a shift towards more eco-friendly product presentations. - **Digital Manuals:** Replacing traditional paper manuals with QR code-based digital guides reflects a growing trend towards digitalization and paperless workflows. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Consumer Electronics:** The gaming controller industry is innovating with visually appealing and environmentally conscious designs, setting new standards for product aesthetics and sustainability. - **Packaging:** The move to sustainable and reduced packaging materials represents significant advancements in the efforts to decrease environmental impact in product shipping and storage. - **Digital Content:** Shifting user manuals to digital formats via QR codes signals a transformation within the content delivery sector, promoting immediate access to information while cutting down on paper usage. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [See-Through Controller Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xbox-elite-2.md) - [Semi-Transparent Game Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-cipher.md) - [90s-Inspired Gaming Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sky-cipher-special-edition-xbox-controller.md) - [Recycled Plastic Game Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xbox-wireless-controller-remix-special-edition.md) - [Sleek Green Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velocity-green.md) - [Transparent Illuminated Gaming Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyperx-clutch-gladiate-xbox-controller.md) - [Stylish Gaming Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xbox-wireless-controller.md) - [Translucent Retro Controller Releases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funtastic-ice-blue.md) - [Multi-Color Game Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elite-series-2.md)
