# X-Accented Area Rugs These Kisses Carpets Bring Sweet and Colorful Details to Your Interior Decor By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xaccented-area-rug References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2015/01/Kisses.html) & [evelienlulofs.nl](http://www.evelienlulofs.nl/) Show your living room some love with one of these X-accented area rugs. More interactive than your typical floor covering, this product enables you to punch out, to swap and to replace little crosses in the fabric, influencing the vibrancy and detailed character of your mat. Evelien Lulofs designed these Kisses rugs with warm wool as the chosen textile. The natural material is repellent to moisture and dirt, and even has the ability to clean itself. But technical specs aside, these carpets are full of charm, coming in two shades of soft gray in either a rectangular or circular shape. The notched edges of these X-accented area rugs invite you to change up the patterns on the ground, offering customization through different colorful crosses, or the absence of them completely. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Area Rugs:** The opportunity to create customizable and changeable designs on area rugs through interactive elements. - **Self-cleaning Material:** The use of self-cleaning materials in textiles, providing both functionality and convenience for consumers. - **Customizable Home Decor:** The trend of personalized home decor and the potential for products that allow for easy customization. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Integrating customization and interactive elements into home decor products, such as area rugs, to differentiate offerings and attract consumers. - **Textiles:** Incorporating self-cleaning materials into textiles and exploring their potential for use in multiple applications. - **Design:** Opportunities for designers to create innovative and customizable products that add a unique touch to the home decor market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Washable Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ruggable-x-keith-haring.md) - [Abstract Geometric Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discorectangle.md) - [Lifestyle-Themed Patterned Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quotidiana.md) - [Machine-Washable Rug Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rugello-by-kleentex.md) - [Cross-Cultural Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nordic-knots-x-giancarlo-valle-rug-collection.md) - [Mesmerizing Artful Patterned Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electtrico-collection.md) - [Contemporary Woven Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hagga-icon.md) - [Opulent Area Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winter-collection-1.md) - [Artful Versatile Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanimarquina.md)
