The hanger was created by Israeli designer Kfir Schwalb and is made from powder-coated, bent steel. The hanger gets its name from its unique design. The "X" shape allows for the hanger to hold multiple articles of clothing at once. Coat hooks and clothing hangers perform the same functions, yet remain a world apart in the household. By making these two functions one, the X Hanger [saves space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spaceefficient-drying) and makes a previously one-dimensional item multifunctional. It also doesn't hurt that Schwalb's design is eye-catching, coming in a variety of colors. As more and more people move into urban areas there will be a need for designs like the X Hanger which save space and look good. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Dual-purpose Furniture:** Designing furniture with multiple functionalities to save space and increase convenience. - **Multifunctional Household Items:** Creating household items that serve more than one purpose to maximize utility. - **Space-saving Solutions:** Developing innovative designs that optimize space usage in urban areas. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Exploring new possibilities in designing furniture that combines different functionalities. - **Home Decor:** Offering versatile and stylish household items that serve multiple purposes. - **Urban Living:** Providing space-saving solutions for compact living spaces in densely populated urban areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Quirky Structural Clothes Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hang-we.md) - [Geometrically Shaped Hanger Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triangle-hanger.md) - [Modular Minimal Wardrobe Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koi-cloths.md) - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Tripod-Like Garment Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-coat-rack.md) - [Storage-Conscious Clothing Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coat-hingers.md) - [Open-Concept Clothing Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhutte-clothes-hanger-rack.md) - [In-Car Coat Hanger Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multi-hanger.md) - [Smiley Clothing Wall Hooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/itsahook.md)
