# Natural Wooden Notebooks The Pacific & West Writing Journals Feature Covers Made from Solid Walnut By M | Published 2016-03-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/writing-journal References: [un.cr](http://un.cr/pacificwestnotebooks) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1281815866/pacific-and-west-premium-walnut-and-brass-notebook) The Pacific & West Notebooks feature collection of [writing journals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caliber-fashion-artist-series) with luxe covers made using pieces of solid walnut to give the books a durable, long-lasting and natural finish. The notebooks include thinly sliced sheets of wood that have been hand-oiled and brass bound onto sheets of paper. The strength of the wood give the journals a solid covering to protect the contents inside from wear and tear. Journals often tend to be flimsy in shape and design when a soft cover is used to bound the papers together. The Pacific & West Notebooks come with both a [wooden cover](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-jacket) and backing made from rich dark walnut plywood. The wood is bound using brass to consumer [recycled paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notebook-system) in either lined, grid or plain styles. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Natural Wooden Covers:** Opportunity to disrupt the notebook industry by incorporating natural, sustainable materials into notebook covers - **Durable Notebooks:** Opportunity to disrupt the notebook industry by creating notebooks with durable covers that protect contents from wear and tear - **Luxury Stationery:** Opportunity to disrupt the stationery industry by offering high-end, luxurious writing journals with solid wooden covers ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Eco-friendly Products:** Opportunity to disrupt the eco-friendly product industry by creating notebooks made from sustainable materials like wood - **Stationery:** Opportunity to disrupt the traditional stationery industry by offering unique and stylish notebooks with wooden covers - **Gifts and Souvenirs:** Opportunity to disrupt the gift and souvenir industry by offering unique, handcrafted writing journals with natural wooden covers ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reusable Paper-Free Notebooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nuka-book.md) - [Woven Bamboo Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-weave-pens.md) - [Textural Timber-Made Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hacoa-full-kiboard-wireless.md) - [Elegant Analog Note Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-taking-kit.md) - [Eco-Friendly Hardwood Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hardwood-accessories.md) - [Leather-Bound Connected Notebooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connected-notebooks.md) - [Pottery-Inspired Artful Notebooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kintsugi-art.md) - [Multifunctional Solid Wood Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oakywood-classic-solid-wood-desk.md) - [Luxury Digital Papers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/montblanc-digital-paper.md)
