# Wacky Watercolor Masterpieces Wrestler And Budgies Paintings by Rhys Coren By TrendHead | Published 2009-01-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wrestler-and-budgies-portraits-paintings-by-rhys-coren References: [rhyscoren](http://www.rhyscoren.co.uk/) & [rhysandhannahpresent.blogspot](http://www.rhysandhannahpresent.blogspot.com/) Bristol-based artist Rhys Coren graduated in 2006 in Art and Visual Culture from the Bristol School of Art, Media and Design. He has developed a unique style using aspects of visual arts, sculpture, painting, writing poems and fanzines to recall and reminisce over memories of his own everyday experiences. The pictures above are from his forthcoming show ‘After Newsround’ at the Old Shoreditch Station, London, UK and features paintings of his favorite after school heroes when he was a child. I like the childishness and familiarity of his work. From his paintings of the five worst CD’s he’s ever bought, to a guide to spreading Marmite, the viewer can easily relate the work to their own lives, which makes it interesting to watch as well as rather amusing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Watercolor Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the watercolor art trend include exploring new techniques and materials to push the boundaries of traditional watercolor painting. - **Nostalgic Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the nostalgic art trend include leveraging nostalgia to create unique and relatable artwork that resonates with consumers. - **Multimedia Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the multimedia art trend include integrating various art forms such as painting, sculpture, writing, and media to create innovative and multidimensional artworks. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art Galleries:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the art galleries industry include showcasing and promoting emerging artists who experiment with unconventional art forms and styles. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the home decor industry include partnering with artists who create unique and nostalgic artwork that can be incorporated into interior design. - **Art Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in the art education industry include developing innovative curriculum and programs that encourage students to explore different art forms and express their creativity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Modern Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brent-estabrook-debuts-storytime.md) - [Playful Doodle-Emblazoned Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sam-cox.md) - [Childlike Characters Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childlike-characters-art-exhibition.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Leftover Househouse Paint Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-drop.md) - [Fluid Basketball-Net Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swimming-pools-and-bubblegum.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md)
