# Stretchy Plastic Containers The Wrap Bowl Dish is Stylish and Practical By Meghan Young | Published 2012-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wrap-bowl-dish References: [ohgizmo](http://www.ohgizmo.com/2012/03/26/wrap-bowl-tupperware-dish/) & [japantrendshop](http://www.japantrendshop.com/wrap-bowl-tupperware-dish-p-1374.html) The Wrap Bowl plastic dish is a step up in both form and function from typical plastic containers. In place of the traditional hard lid, this [storage alternative](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eternos-serving-bowl) boasts a [flexible silicone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stretchy-yogurt) one that keeps food fresh. Not only is the stretchable lid super stylish, it is also incredibly practical. Designed by Kanae Tsukamoto and available online at the [Japan Trend Shop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japan-edition-ginza), the Wrap Bowl comes in four different colors: avocado, cafe au lait, mustard and tomato. The flexible lid has a specially designed plug that allows condensation and steam to be released while the squarish ceramic bowl can be microwaved and cleaned in the dishwasher. A compromise between saran wrap and plastic containers, the Wrap Bowl dish is something every household could use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Flexible Silicone Lids:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Develop a line of flexible silicone lids that can be used on various sizes of containers to provide airtight and flexible sealing. - **Stylish Storage Alternatives:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Create aesthetically pleasing storage containers with flexible lids that combine functional design with a fashionable appearance. - **Microwavable Ceramic Bowls:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Design microwave-safe ceramic bowls with durable and chip-resistant properties that can directly transition from oven to table. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Kitchenware:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Explore new materials and designs to create innovative kitchenware products that prioritize convenience, functionality, and style. - **Food Storage:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Develop new food storage solutions that offer airtight sealing, microwave compatibility, and easy cleaning options to enhance convenience for consumers. - **Home Goods:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation: Introduce innovative home goods that combine aesthetics and practicality, catering to consumers' desire for beautiful and functional household items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reusable Malleable Food Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reusable-seal-tray.md) - [Multi-Functional Food Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-food-container.md) - [Multifunctional Glass Food Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-food-container.md) - [Traditional Food Preservation Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-food-storage-container.md) - [Leak-Proof Food Storage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bentgo.md) - [Domed Lid Yogurt Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/go-bowl.md) - [Reusable Folding Storage Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calzone-tableware.md) - [Freshness-Preserving Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eternos-serving-bowl.md) - [Design-Conscious Food Containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omi-pod-food-container.md)
