There are so many [different types of mattresses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/endy-firm-mattress) out there that I'm sure many of us haven't even considered a life without one--Wranne Fahraeus Design has, though. They have created an alternate sleeping surface that relies on bedsprings with an open design.

Selected as a finalist for the Swedish Steel Prize, Wranne Fahraeus Design's bed concept can also be applied to other furniture pieces such as [sofas and armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eclipse-capsule). It doesn't compromise the comfort found with a [traditional mattress](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ultimate-snooze), while adding the benefit of cost and convenience.
