During this year's CES, [Toyota](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecollection) announced that it will be opening the first phase of Woven City, which is an [experimental urban development](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-transformer-homes). It explores innovative technology at the quick pace of the modern world. The first phase is now complete and the prototype metropolis is imagined as a 'living laboratory' and is nestled at the company's former Higashi-Fuji plant.

Now, the space is ready to welcome its first residents, which is a group of 100 Toyota employees and their families -- this will be complete by the end of 2025. Toyota shares, “We do this by bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared passion for the [future of mobility](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/softwaredefined-vehicle-solution) to co-create, develop and refine innovative products and services. This cross-section of social infrastructure, mobility, and people provides a unique opportunity for inventors, residents and visitors to interact seamlessly with new technologies throughout daily life in an environment that emulates a real city.”
