# Wobbly Rubber Legged Tables The Wout Wessemius Chapli Table is a Visually Stunning Creation By Tia Clarke | Published 2013-03-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wout-wessemius References: [houseofdesign.nl](http://www.houseofdesign.nl/products/chapli/223?lang=en) & [twitter](http://www.twitter.com/Wessemius) This Wout Wessemius table is anything but traditional. The 'Chapli' table is an inventive creation from the Netherlands based designer. The 'Chalpi's' abstract tabletop design mimics a [wooden leaf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio) whilst the legs are made from rubber which has been twisted in a visually stunning way. Rubber is not a product one would associate with furniture, but in this instance, it works wonderfully. The opposing way in which the legs are twisted, as well as the alien look of the thick chunks of rubber, have an off-putting appeal. This Wout Wessemius creation would create the perfect show piece for any modern home looking to make a statement. One of the advantages of its slick design is that the table has a completely different look from every angle. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Rubber Furniture:** The use of rubber as a material in furniture design creates visually stunning and unconventional pieces. - **Abstract Tabletops:** Designers are exploring unconventional tabletop shapes and textures to create unique and visually appealing pieces of furniture. - **Opposing Twisted Legs:** Designers are experimenting with twisted leg designs that add visual interest to furniture pieces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can take advantage of unconventional materials and abstract shapes to create unique and innovative pieces that stand out in the market. - **Home Decor:** Home decor retailers can offer visually interesting and unusual furniture pieces to satisfy the growing consumer demand for statement decor items. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate unconventional furniture pieces with unique shapes and textures to create visually stunning and modern interiors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Dynamic Structural Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wims.md) - [Playful Wavy Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-table-design.md) - [Unconventional Awkwardly Seated Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uncomfortable-table.md) - [Playful Curiosity Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tottolo.md) - [Curvaceous Abstract Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-table.md) - [Wine-Catered Vibrant Artful Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wine-table.md) - [Haute Waterlily-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lilypad-table.md) - [Bended Tubular Chair-Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept.md)
