The design is intended to occupy a site alongside Notre-Dame and to exist there while restorations to the cathedral are done — the structure caught on fire on April 15th, 2019, causing immense damages to the roof and the collapse of the spire. The temporary worship space will be housed in a [versatile pavilion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tess-pavilion). The proposal is intended to provide relief for church operations, offering ample room for services and markets. When determining the design language of the concept, Gensler focused on familiarity. As a result, the architecture firm created the visuals of the worship space to have "the exact dimensions of the nave of the cathedral so that it feels familiar." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Temporary Worship Space Designs:** Architecture firms could explore designs for temporary worship spaces to provide relief during restoration or rebuilding of religious buildings. - **Versatile Pavilions:** The concept of a versatile pavilion could be applied to various industries such as events, markets, and disaster relief. - **Familiar Design Language:** Incorporating familiar design language could be a disruptive innovation opportunity for the architecture industry to improve user experience and comfort in any temporary structure. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Religious Institutions:** Temporary worship space proposals could be beneficial for religious institutions during restorations or rebuilding of religious buildings. - **Events:** The concept of a versatile pavilion could offer opportunities for event organizers to have a temporary but functional space for their events. - **Disaster Relief:** A versatile pavilion design could also be applied to disaster relief efforts, providing a temporary but functional shelter for those in need. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Roman Architecture-Themed Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forum-des-vestiges.md) - [Humanized Waiting Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/de-wachtkamer.md) - [Sculptural Timber Gathering Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gathering-space.md) - [Multi-Faith Spiritual Temples](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nondenominational-temple.md) - [Woodland-Inspired Timber Office Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavilion-jardins.md) - [Charred-Wood Tranquil Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3to1-pavilion.md) - [Rocky Garden-Nestled Serene Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-3to1-pavilion.md) - [Time Capsule Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/america-250-time-capsule.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md)
