A sleek design, the Wormhole comprises two equal elastic frames that are filled with [flexible fabric](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster). These two pieces, which are bordered by zippers, can be folded into one -- to create a seat -- simply by zipping up the borders. This convenient folding feature makes the Wormhole an easy seating solution for tighter spaces, and it can also be useful if you are having guests over. The merits of the Wormhole by Igor Lobanov hasn't been ignored, either. It was awarded the Red Dot design Award for the "best of the best 2011" category. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Foldable Seating:** Opportunity for innovative seating solutions that can be easily folded and stored in smaller living areas. - **Space-saving Furniture:** Opportunity to develop furniture designs that maximize space in smaller living areas. - **Convenient Seating Solutions:** Opportunity to create seating designs that are quick and easy to set up and store for guests. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating space-saving, foldable furniture designs. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate foldable seating solutions into interior designs for small spaces. - **Home Furnishings:** Opportunity to market convenient and space-saving seating solutions for homeowners with limited living areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Storage-Friendly Origami Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kerf.md) - [Adventurous Versatile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster-seat.md) - [Collapsible Posture Support Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ergonomic-portable-seat.md) - [Compact Collapsing Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acordion-modular-sofa.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Versatile Modular Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformer-couch-20.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notch-folding-chair.md) - [Legless Floor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-chair.md)
