Located in the Annex neighborhood of Vancouver, Canada, the home embodies a distinct heritage that is fused with elements of modernity. The home is defined by bold geometry, striking forms, and inky palettes to bridge a past and present visual aesthetic. O'Brian notes, “I’d say that I’m far more interested in working with and emphasizing the quirks and idiosyncrasies of buildings than I am in removing or rationalizing them. “In plan, the bay window was extrapolated into its implied circle. That circle became the singular rotunda of space that extends from the ceiling of the first floor up to the roof. Tangents and additional curves and circles emerge from that rotunda and move throughout the house.” Image Credit: WORKS OFFICE ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 33% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Heritage-modern Fusion Homes:** The blend of historical architecture with contemporary designs offers new pathways for bespoke home renovations that honor the past while embracing modern sensibilities. - **Geometric Home Designs:** Incorporating bold geometric patterns and forms in residential spaces creates unique visual aesthetics that can redefine traditional interior layouts. - **Quirky Architectural Features:** Emphasizing and reinterpreting a building's unique idiosyncrasies invites innovative design approaches that can transform standard renovation practices. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Architects are innovating with designs that integrate historical elements and modern trends to create visually compelling residential spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers are exploring new dimensions by fusing bold geometric patterns with the existing charm of heritage properties. - **Home Renovation:** The home renovation industry is embracing unique architectural quirks as key elements to create distinctive living environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mid-Century Renovated Canadian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/erica-colpitts.md) - [Transformed Ocean View Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-fn.md) - [Renovated Victorian Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-house.md) - [Juxtaposing Retro Cottage Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drew-mandel-architects.md) - [Remote Work-Catering Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-plow.md) - [Artfully Inspired Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/north-drive-house.md) - [Renewed Heritage Estates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kilmory-house.md) - [Creative Work-Encouraging Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-lining-house.md) - [Modern Heritage Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/denton-reserve.md)
