# Abstracted Corridor Architecture Working Blue Appears to Comprise Vertically Oriented Hallways By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/working-blue References: [suckerpunchdaily](http://www.suckerpunchdaily.com/2013/02/20/working-blue/) I bet you cannot discern even a hint of Working Blue's interior program by scrutinizing its exterior. The abstract and [iridescent purple structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highdensity-residential-design) seems to have been composed through the impossible remodeling of long corridors into once-rectangular prisms that now bend, turn and even project directly towards the sky. Dale Strong's project does, however, make sense on the inside. While the curious forms do affect the usable spaces indoors, the building's sectional diagrams reveal a familiar organization by logical floor levels, occasionally breaking off to form mezzanines. Proposed as a neighbor to the [Museum of Fine Arts Houston](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mkg), Working Blue asserts itself as a [whimsical and contemporary edifice](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-zone), standing in great contrast to the classical and rational structures that surround it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Abstracted Architecture:** Creating unconventional building designs that challenge traditional structures. - **Vertical Corridor Orientation:** Designing buildings with hallways that extend vertically to create unique and functional spaces. - **Segmented Buildings:** Breaking up building structures into sections to create distinct interior spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Innovative buildings designs that break away from traditional aesthetics. - **Museums:** Creating unique and attention-grabbing structures that stand out from the rest. - **Commercial Real Estate:** Constructing visually striking buildings that meet modern office standards while also offering unique amenities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Graphic-Accented Brutalist Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jean-verville.md) - [Curved Translucent Experimental Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptors-apartment.md) - [Dual Level Concrete Galleries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crow-museum-of-asian-art.md) - [Campus Art Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atelier-ppw.md) - [Ultra-Playful Studio Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-workspace.md) - [Pavilion-Style Art Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galeria-house.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Modern Blue-Accented Academic Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marie-esther-pavilion.md) - [Protein-Inspired Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-protein-molecule.md)
