# Cute Crocheted Casualties Patricia Waller's Art of Wooly Accidents & Hoovering Trunks By TrendHead | Published 2009-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooly-accidents-and-hoovering-trunks-alluring-crochet-works-by-patricia-wal References: [we-make-money-not-art](http://www.we-make-money-not-art.com/archives/2005/08/cruel-crochet.php) & [patriciawaller](http://www.patriciawaller.com/en/images.html) I am absolutely amazed by these brilliantly bizarre [crocheted fairytale animals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog) and other [funny toy figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazing-digital-circus) knitted in cruel death scenes by Patricia Waller. Waller is a crochet artist and master of [plush toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/care-bears-wicked-collection) who lives and works in Berlin, Germany. The vacuum cleaning elephant, the twin bears connected via their heads and the ostrich with its head stuck in the ground all have a rare sadness to them, while the unicorn and rabbit death scenarios are just downright bloody and cruel. Perhaps these plushies are not the best gift for your lovely little niece. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Morbid Crochet:** Opportunity for crafters to tap into the demand for unconventional, macabre and darkly humorous plush toys. - **Bizarre Art:** Opportunity for artists to create unconventional and provocative artwork using non-traditional materials and mediums. - **Dark Humor:** Opportunity for comedians and humorists to explore controversial and provocative themes in their performances and content. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create unconventional and provocative artwork using non-traditional materials and mediums. - **Crafts and Hobbies:** Opportunity for crafters to tap into the demand for unconventional, macabre and darkly humorous plush toys. - **Entertainment:** Opportunity for comedians and humorists to explore controversial and provocative themes in their performances and content. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Crochet Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crochet-collection.md) - [Intricately Handcrafted Animal Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lulu-the-lamb.md) - [Plush Toy Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urupochachan.md) - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Knitted New York Subways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/straphangers-lounge.md) - [Spellbinding Collectible Plushies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2025-halloween-plushies.md) - [Witchy Plush Bears](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-themed-care-bears.md) - [Adorable Organic Stuffed Animals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organic-stuffed-animals.md) - [Creature-Inspired Home Good Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charles-jeffreys-loverboy.md)
