The furniture line consists of pieces that expose the [natural state of the wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no1-common) and is paired with strategically stained portions to help it pop even further. This creates an enhanced sense of elegance that is also quite easy to be incorporated into the modern home given its traditional yet contemporary final aesthetic. The 'A different turn' furniture line was explained by Boersma who said, "The patterns on the straight, black flat sides of the objects flow into the soft, round shapes of the turned away wood. A confluence of the designer’s signature, and the natural beauty of the wood itself.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 11% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modernized Woodturning:** The trend of modernizing traditional woodturning practices presents opportunities for innovative, contemporary furniture designs. - **Natural and Stained Combinations:** The use of natural wood grain combined with strategic staining provides an opportunity for enhanced elegance and aesthetic appeal in furniture design. - **Blending Signature Style and Organic Materials:** Incorporating a designer's signature style with the unique and natural qualities of wood creates a trend of creating one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can capitalize on modernizing traditional practices and combining natural and stained woods to create unique and contemporary collections. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can develop product lines featuring modernized woodturned furniture collections that offer an enhanced sense of elegance while remaining contemporary in appearance. - **Artisanal and Handmade Goods:** The trend of blending a designer's signature style with organic materials presents opportunities for skillful artisans to create unique and one-of-a-kind handmade woodturned pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Textured Modern Furniture Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touch-collections.md) - [Repurposed Wooden Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/darren-appiagyei.md) - [Dynamic Timber Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/down-to-earth.md) - [Ultra-Elegant Timeless Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timeless-furniture2.md) - [Felled Tree Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ptacek-home-chunk-line.md) - [Fluid Wooden Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures.md) - [Wood-Centric Simple Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collective-collection.md) - [Modernized Wooden Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eames-turned-stool.md)
