# Forest-Inspired Lighting Héctor Serrano's Woods Suspension Lamp is Abstract and Minimalist By Meghan Young | Published 2012-05-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woods-suspension-lamp References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/woods-by-hector-serrano-for-arturo-alvarez/) & [hectorserrano](http://www.hectorserrano.com/) Beautiful and enchanting, the [Woods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burning-woods) Suspension Lamp is inspired by forests. More specifically, it is influenced by the way light peeks through dense trees and branches. To capture this natural occurrence, the designer played with [long and thin lumber rectangles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoop-table-lamp), which stand in for the trees. Clustered around the light source, the illumination is soft and romantic as it streams through the wooden pieces. Conceived by London-based Spanish industrial designer Héctor Serrano for Spanish lighting manufacturer Arturo Alvarez, the Woods Suspension Lamp may be large and imposing, but the abstract 'trees' give it a [minimalist vibe](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightmass) that will complement any living space and existing decor. The clean lines and basic aesthetic will appeal to many while adding sculptural character to rooms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Forest-inspired Lighting:** Opportunities for integrating natural elements into lighting designs that evoke emotional responses. - **Minimalist Illumination:** Chances to create lighting designs that merge clean lines with natural elements. - **Sculptural Lighting:** Possibilities for introducing lighting designs that can also serve as decorative art pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Designers can integrate forest-inspired lighting fixtures to create unique and inviting living spaces. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore opportunities for creating lighting fixtures that merge the use of natural materials with minimalist design. - **Artisanal Home Decor:** Handcrafted, sculptural lighting fixtures can cater to consumers who value both functionality and aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Serene Wooden Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood.md) - [Pine Wood-Inspired Minimal Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jakobsson.md) - [Wooden Pendant Lamp Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-collection-1.md) - [Hanging Lantern-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo-table-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Bamboo-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-forest-glss.md) - [Wooden Sustainable Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo.md) - [Sculpted Wooden Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sleepy-wood-desk-lamp.md) - [Moon-Inspired Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lua.md)
