# Stitched Wooden Tables The Black Patch Match Table Looks Like it Has Been Sewn Together By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-10-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-table References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/10/14/tailored-table/) & [alondodo](http://www.alondodo.com/Default.asp?LangId=2) Designed and handmade in Israel by Alon Dodo, the [Black Patch Match](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comme-des-garons-kyoto) wooden table highlights a somewhat rustic aesthetic that makes it look like it has been stitched together. The Black Patch Match table looks like a modern piece of furniture from afar, but it's only upon closer inspection that the out of place corner piece is observed. It's a different color from the rest of the table and looks as though it were stitched into place as a way to perhaps fix a break or damage. In reality, the portion is intentionally designed as such and held in place with white wooden stitches to help further accentuate the intentionally chic design defect. The Black Patch Match wooden table helps to change perceptions regarding [fabric stitching](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-cloth-project) to help celebrate the practice through woodwork. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Rustic-aesthetic Furniture:** Creating furniture that mimics a rustic aesthetic can provide a unique and visually appealing design element in modern spaces. - **Intentional Design Defects:** Incorporating intentional design defects, such as stitched elements, can add character and intrigue to furniture pieces. - **Celebrating Traditional Techniques:** Highlighting traditional practices, like fabric stitching, through innovative reinterpretations in different materials can serve as a homage to craftsmanship. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Incorporating rustic-aesthetic furniture designs with intentional design defects can disrupt the furniture industry by offering unique products that stand out in the market. - **Interior Design:** Introducing furniture pieces with intentional design defects can inspire interior designers to incorporate more unconventional elements into their projects, creating visually distinctive spaces. - **Craftsmanship:** Reimagining and celebrating traditional techniques, such as fabric stitching, through innovative applications in various materials can bring new opportunities for craftsmen to showcase their skills. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Optically-Designed Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigma-coffee-tables.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Machete-Cut Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kodai-iwamoto.md) - [Extravagant Handcrafted Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handcrafted-furniture.md) - [Mycelium-Crafted Organic Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duk-series.md) - [Herringbone-Inspired Wooden Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/herringbone-table.md) - [Dynamic Strong Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table.md)
