# Undulating Wooden Stools This Chair is Outfitted with a Series of Elastics that Conform to Sitters By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-09-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-stools References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/09/26/shape-shift-seating/) Looking to help correct the uncomfortable experience that's often created by wooden stools, this chair features an [undulating design aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/undia) to help offer relief for sitters. Designed by Ewa Dulcet, the stool features the design aesthetic of a wooden box that conforms to the person who sits on it thanks to a series of elastic connections hidden within. This helps the chair to maintain a rigid aesthetic when not in use and provide a contoured experience when used to ensure the utmost attention to style and comfort. The wooden stools identify a shift towards home decor products that look to maintain style and comfort without having to sacrifice on either side. The chairs are rigid and modern until sat on to expose the true comfortable nature of them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Undulating Designs:** The use of undulating designs in furniture for increased comfort. - **Dual-purpose Products:** The design of furniture that maintains style and comfort. - **Enhancing Comfort:** The trend towards furniture that conforms and responds to the user's needs for comfort. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can benefit from creating hybrid products that prioritize design and comfort. - **Home Decor:** Home decor brands can incorporate comfort into their products for a more functional and aesthetic home environment. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can find innovative ways to enhance comfort in home furniture using modern design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Functional Decorative Rocking Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rool-stool.md) - [Active Sitting Cork Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ylin-stool.md) - [Biodegradable Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ergonomic-stool.md) - [Multifaceted Geometric Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackable-stools.md) - [Minimal Wooden Webbed Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knot-stool.md) - [Ultra-Simple Workstation Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/verk-stool.md) - [Sloped Movement Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tippi-chair.md) - [Bright Colorful Structural Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels.md) - [Plastic-Inspired Wooden Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plastic-translation-stool.md)
