The Alfiere, Pedone and the Regina respectively mimic the tops of the bishop, the pawn and the queen or the rook. One of the most intriguing elements in the collection of three is the slit down the side of the Alfiere. The inward-angled slot is ideal for storing things like [newspapers and magazines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sisto). The carved wooden stools by Giorgio Bonaguro are playful pieces that serve as great seats or side tables in either of two orientations. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Chess-inspired Furniture:** Designs influenced by chess pieces offer an opportunity for creativity and playfulness in furniture design. - **Multi-functional Seating:** Including storage or other functions in seating can save space and add practicality to furniture design. - **Sculptural Stools:** Sculptural forms in stool design offer a unique and artistic touch to functional furniture pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Designers in the furniture industry can explore incorporating playful chess-inspired elements into their designs for added creativity and appeal. - **Home Decor:** Sculptural stools with multi-functional elements can provide practical and aesthetically pleasing options for home decor. - **Retail:** Retailers can market chess-inspired furniture and multi-functional seating as unique and practical options for customers seeking something different and functional. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ceramic Chess Seating Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-chess.md) - [Incredibly Elegant Chess Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elevated-chess-set.md) - [Sculptural Monochromatic Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monochromatic-stool.md) - [Sustainable Biophilic Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inspired-by-nature.md) - [Stool-Inspired Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hackability-of-the-stool.md) - [Traditional Church-Inspired Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pew-stool.md) - [Historically Influenced Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nick-beens.md) - [Multifunctional Sleek Oak Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dice.md) - [Cultural Heritage-Inspired Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stool-design1.md)
