With a passion for woodworking, artist Aron Demetz has expounded on the properties of this material with his latest wooden statue series.

Optimizing for the way [wood is easily splintered and frayed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no1-common), he purposefully shreds away the smoothness of his [human sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-bust) to give certain surfaces lots of texture and detailing. The wood itself has a remarkable skin-like coloring, giving these timber people, built right out of tree trunks, an eerily life-like appearance. The shredding and splintering looks like a flesh-eating disease that is softening the hard exteriors of these statues.

In this latest wooden statue series, Aron Demetz uses the fallible properties of this easily-destroyed material to use, making destruction part of his creations.
