# Timber Coattailed Seating This Wooden Chair by Pasi Savunen Has Been Clad with a Sense of Occasion By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-02-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-chair-by-pasi-savunen References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Wooden-chair/2020875) Fitting for a desk or dining table, this wooden chair by Pasi Savunen may be more formal in appearance than one might expect. The absence of armrests gives it a much more casual character, as do its [slender front legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair), but its materiality and sculptural qualities elevate it to express a certain elegance. Plywood and rich solid lumber with its gorgeous woodgrain pattern have been bound together and stained with a dark dye to manufacture sumptuous style. In one model of the wooden chair by Pasi Savunen, the backrest has been extended with the smooth cladding of the magnificent material to cover the gap between the two rear supports. The same sort of [continuous veneer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kartela) gently unites the seat with the backrest, indicating great care in craftsmanship that matches the grace of any elaborately carved dining chair. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Wooden Furniture:** Opportunity for innovative designs using wood in furniture, such as incorporating unique textures or materials. - **Minimalist Design:** Opportunity to create sleek and simple furniture pieces that still exude elegance and style. - **Craftsmanship:** Opportunity to showcase the artistry and skill in furniture making, emphasizing attention to detail. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunities include using new materials or techniques to create wooden furniture that stands out in the market. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate wooden furniture into interior design projects, focusing on minimalist and elegant aesthetics. - **Luxury Home Decor:** Opportunity to cater to high-end customers by offering unique and beautifully crafted wooden furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Naturalistic Stainable Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daisee-chair.md) - [Meditation Wood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vipassa.md) - [Haute Cohesive Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peel-chair-by-blond.md) - [Slick Eco-Conscious Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecoconscious-chair-design.md) - [Wooden Framed Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paf-paf-chair.md) - [Pillowy Wood Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/press-armchair.md) - [Solid Wooden Stackable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naku.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Sustainable Plywood Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adela-rex.md)
