Although Gehry is a world-renowned architect, he has also demonstrated a knack for [boat design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/three-mile-harbor). His latest work demonstrates that his creations are suitable for land and the sea. Gehry and Frers' creation is a fully wooden boat named 'Foggy.' The [luxurious yacht](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custombuilt-yacht) is a [two-sail vessel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikonic-yachts) that boasts Gehry's signature wavy designs. The boat features a series of glass lattices that allow light to flood the living and sleeping quarters. On the deck, curved seats are integrated into the stern to provide a comfortable viewing area. The boat was made using a technique that involves sandwiching the wood around a high-tech core. This means that the wooden vessel is not only beautiful, but it is also more durable than traditional planking. The wooden yacht demonstrates that Gehry's talents are not limited to architectural design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Luxurious Wooden Yachts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrating glass lattices and curved seats for enhanced comfort and aesthetics in wooden yacht design. - **Architectural-naval Collaborations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Exploring partnerships between renowned architects and naval architects to create unique and luxurious boat designs. - **High-tech Woodworking Techniques:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing and utilizing advanced woodworking techniques to enhance the durability and longevity of wooden boats. ### Where This Applies - **Luxury Yacht Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embracing innovative designs and materials, such as incorporating glass lattices, to create luxurious and visually striking wooden yachts. - **Architecture Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborating with naval architects to expand the creative realm of designers and architects beyond traditional land-based structures. - **Woodworking Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating high-tech cores and advanced woodworking techniques to improve the durability and performance of wooden products, including boats. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Extreme Environment Yacht Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/75ft-explorer-sailing-yacht.md) - [Luxury Transparent Hull Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-capitolo.md) - [Hybrid Propulsion Yacht Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluyt-yacht-concept.md) - [Furutistic Reconfigurable Superyachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yacht-design1.md) - [Luxury 72-Meter Super-Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Admiral-Yacht.md) - [Opulent Eco-Friendly Yacht Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oneiric-yacht.md) - [Hydrodynamic Avian-Inspired Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wakinyan-catamaran-yacht.md) - [Humongous Hydrofoil Luxury Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydrofoil-luxury-yachts.md) - [Bronze Canopy Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hermes-yacht-concept.md)
