# Indoor Trees Wooden Tokyo House Looks Like It was Built Inside a Forest By Cowbag | Published 2009-03-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooded-apartments-amazing-building-restoration References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2009/03/27/wooden-forest-apartment-by-ikeda-yukie-architects/) This renovation of an [old two-storey wooden house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-house-1) in [Nakano, Tokyo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nakano-house) rocks! It is the idea of Japanese architect Ikeda Yukie, and I am totally in lust with it. The house has tree stumps reaching from floor to ceiling, as if trees were bursting through from the ground. The building is a really original piece of architecture that is very functional at the same time. Aesthetically, the project is amazing, and I can’t help but wonder what it might be like to live in an [indoor forest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iside-home) on a permanent basis. I would love to try it out! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Indoor Nature:** Opportunity for businesses to create indoor spaces that mimic natural environments, providing a calming and refreshing atmosphere for users. - **Functional Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to design buildings that are both visually stunning and practical, enhancing the overall functionality of the space. - **Holistic Living:** Growing demand for living spaces that promote a holistic lifestyle, integrating nature and wellness into everyday living. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior design firms to incorporate indoor nature elements, creating unique and rejuvenating spaces for clients. - **Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to explore innovative designs that blur the line between indoor and outdoor spaces, revolutionizing the concept of living environments. - **Wellness and Lifestyle:** Opportunity for wellness and lifestyle businesses to partner with architects and designers, offering curated experiences that combine nature, wellness, and functional design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Peaceful Wooden-Designed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-residence.md) - [Forested Residential Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-bath.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Cave-Like Exposed Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nakano-house.md) - [Olive Tree-Centric Wooden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twentieth-house.md) - [Greenhouse-Topped Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-house-1.md) - [Cat-Catered Large Japanese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-cat-tree-house.md) - [Feline-Focused Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-tree-house-1.md) - [Hidden Garden Timber Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-room-around-a-tree.md)
