The chairs were created for a forthcoming solo show in Milan. The chairs each use two square panels of natural timber and they sit on four metal legs. The simplicity of the chairs keeps the attention directed on the intricate printing design on each of the wooden sections. Some of the chairs have layered woodgrain patterns whereas others have enlarged, abstract woodgrains printed onto existing natural patterns. Nendo experiment with other designs as well such as [printing a marble pattern onto wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imprint-collection). The patterns leave the viewer uncertain of which grain is natural, and which grain has been printed onto the wood. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Mixed Wood Grain Patterns:** The trend of mixing different wood grain patterns through printing on natural timber presents an opportunity for furniture designers to create unique and visually striking pieces. - **Abstract Woodgrain Printing:** The trend of printing enlarged, abstract woodgrains onto existing natural patterns opens doors for artists and designers to explore innovative and unconventional wood furniture designs. - **Marble Pattern Printing on Wood:** The trend of printing marble patterns onto wood surfaces offers a disruptive innovation opportunity for interior design companies looking to create modern, sophisticated furniture pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can leverage the trend of mixed wood grain patterns and abstract woodgrain printing to create unique and eye-catching wood furniture collections. - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore the trend of abstract woodgrain printing to push the boundaries of traditional woodwork and showcase innovative and artistic creations. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can capitalize on the trend of marble pattern printing on wood to offer clients modern and elegant furniture options that blend the natural warmth of wood with the luxurious beauty of marble. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sprouting Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass.md) - [Solid Wooden Stackable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/naku.md) - [Wood-Inspired Patterned Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dino-chair.md) - [3D-Printed Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/econitwood.md) - [Striped Down Dimensional Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ron-arad-1.md) - [Distinctive Craftsmanship Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koyori-wooden-chairs.md) - [Wood-Mimicking Furniture Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stool-and-table.md) - [Draped Fabric-Clad Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidahida.md) - [Through-Colored Wooden Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roggbif.md)
