Woods are selected to best express the furniture design and the context in which the piece will be used. Rolland wants his work to be touched and seen through multiple senses -- not just the eyes. As is true of many woodworkers, Rolland prefers to use [sustainably harvested woods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rosana-sousa) to create the [textures, edges and curves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touch-collections) that comprise each piece. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sculptural Wood Furniture:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create furniture that incorporates sculptural elements, drawing inspiration from nature and architectural forms. - **Multi-sensory Design:** Opportunity to create furniture that engages multiple senses, going beyond visual appeal to incorporate tactile and auditory experiences. - **Sustainable Woodworking:** Opportunity for woodworkers to focus on using sustainably harvested woods to create eco-friendly furniture designs. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for artists and designers to explore and innovate in the field of sculptural wood furniture. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to incorporate multi-sensory design principles into their product offerings, creating unique and engaging pieces. - **Sustainability and Environmental Conservation:** Opportunity for businesses in the sustainability and environmental conservation sector to collaborate with woodworkers and promote the use of sustainable materials in furniture production. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Well-Made Wooden Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wellsbuilt.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Extravagant Handcrafted Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handcrafted-furniture.md) - [Artful Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knowledge-of-all-dark-things.md) - [Nature-Inspired Artful Home Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-and-dado.md) - [Elegant Woodturned Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodturned-furniture.md) - [Sculptural Furniture Collection](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barrow-collection.md) - [Dynamic Timber Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/down-to-earth.md)
