# Street-Safe Cop Equipment The W-Mask Aids the Efficiency and the Health of Police Officers By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-12-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wmask References: [jurmol](http://www.jurmol.com/mask.html) For those cops stuck with the duty of directing traffic, the W-Mask would be a smart accessory to pull on. Jurmol Yao's concept is a hi-tech piece of [wearable equipment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wati) designed to cover the nose and mouth of its wearer. The benefit of this device is that it acts as an [air filter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woop-air-purifier) amidst the exhausted carbon dioxide of passing vehicles. The W-Mask's purification process helps to protect the officer's lungs from poisons and buildup and makes it possible for asthmatic employees to work more comfortably in [urban areas outdoors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polis). But more than that, the W-Mask integrates an electric whistle into its design. This enables the cop to get the attention of drivers and pedestrians with little exertion and without the awkwardness of using a high-pitched pipe with a mouth cover on. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Air Filter Wearables:** Developing wearable devices with built-in air filters to protect users from pollutants and improve their respiratory health. - **Smart Safety Accessories:** Creating accessories that enhance safety and efficiency for professionals working in hazardous environments. - **Integrated Whistle Technology:** Incorporating whistle functionality into wearable gear for easy signaling and communication purposes. ### Who This Affects Most - **Law Enforcement:** Exploring innovative solutions to improve the health and safety of police officers while on duty. - **Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):** Continuously evolving PPE designs and technologies to offer better protection and comfort for workers in various industries. - **Urban Safety:** Addressing the unique safety challenges faced by professionals working in urban areas and finding ways to enhance their efficiency and well-being. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Emotive Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/w3e-mask-expressive-emotion.md) - [Air-Blowing Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-mask.md) - [Wearer-Analyzing Respirators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ebcare-mask.md) - [Air-Controlling VR Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airres-mask.md) - [Air-Purifying Motorcyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zyon-smart-motorcycle-helmet.md) - [Powered Breathability Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/performance-face-mask.md) - [Breath-Tracking Face Mask Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/facebit.md) - [Future-Focused Air-Filtering Suits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voice-in-sight.md) - [Voice-Quieting Face Masks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/voiceabsorbing-face-mask.md)
