This will be the eighth city that will receive wireless gigabit internet capabilities. The internet service is intended for heavily populated commercial and residential buildings. The system works by channeling the high-powered internet from antennas located on top of buildings. After the new internet rolls out, Austin will be the first city to host both Google Fiber as well as Google's wireless gigabit internet. Google initially released its [Austin Fiber](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Ambient-clinical-intelligence) network in 2014. However, in 2017 Google changed the course to focus more on wireless internet. The Google Fiber internet is available at 28 buildings in Austin, all of which are city-owned. The new Webpass internet should see faster installation than Fiber due to the fact that it is wireless.
