# Rounded Wireframe Furniture The Wave Collection Features Some Surprisingly Soft Shapes By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wireframe-furniture References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2015/01/08/jihye-choi-exposes-the-structure-of-the-wave-collection/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/21602729/) The stiff material that composes this set of wireframe furniture might have made the individual pieces look sharp; however, designer Jihye Choi managed to make the chair, the table and the light look rather voluptuous. The metal was cast in series of slender bars with generous gaps between them, and together they suggest weightless volumes of backrests, armrests and sturdy stands. Finished in black, the metal is striking against brightly coloured and well-lit surroundings, asserting a presence that's more substantial than the actual mass of the three objects. Intricate rhythms arise from the overlapped look of the wireframe furniture's skeletons, making the Wave Collection quite an energetic one. To complement the industrial structures of the armchair, the side table and the floor lamp, [wooden accents and plushy cushions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silva-collection) are integrated for a comfy and contemporary style. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Wireframe Furniture Design:** Opportunity to explore new shapes and structures for furniture without compromising on comfort and style - **Incorporating Industrial Elements in Furniture Design:** Opportunity to mix and match different materials while keeping an industrial feel to the furniture - **Playful Accent Furniture Design:** Opportunity to make furniture that is fun, contemporary, and adds to the overall style of a space ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** A chance to create unique and modern furniture pieces with wireframe structures - **Interior Design:** An opportunity to incorporate wireframe furniture into modern and industrial styled spaces - **Architecture and Homebuilding:** An opportunity to build homes that complement the industrial and contemporary style of wireframe furniture ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wireframed-Based Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lines-series.md) - [Wire-Accented Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/line-series-furniture.md) - [Curvaceous Floating Illusion Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-collection-2.md) - [Bended Tubular Chair-Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept.md) - [Oceanic-Themed Playful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-cober.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Human Form-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-tube-collection.md) - [Fluid Wooden Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures.md) - [Sculptural Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightness-of-form.md)
