# Caged Cement Flower Pots This Wire Vase Collection Features a Balance of Light an Heavy By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-07-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-vase References: [cutesign.tumblr](http://cutesign.tumblr.com/post/54586997212/a-cute-interpretation-of-a-vase-made-with-wire) & [seungyongsong](http://www.seungyongsong.com/code/sub_03_010_1.html) Designed by Seung Yong Song, this [wire vase collection](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinetic-vases) is a carefully calculated balance between different types of materials that contrast greatly in their physical properties. A [solid cement base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora) keeps the vases grounded, giving them a sturdy support that emotes a grave heaviness and rough type of smoothness. Extending from this base are light and limber wire frames that create the structure of the vases, some tapering inwards, others branching outwards, giving the vessels shape and a barely there dimension. Flowers and plants placed in the wire vase series will have the [illusion of floating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siembra-capsule) on their own in the air as the branches and stems take on the shapes created by the wires. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Contrast Materials:** An opportunity to design products by contrasting physical properties of materials. - **Barely-there Dimension:** An opportunity to design products that create an illusion of floating objects. - **Wire Structures:** An opportunity to design products using light and flexible wire frames. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Innovative designs in vases and pots. - **Home Decor:** Futuristic home decor with a balance of different materials. - **Floristry:** Innovative new ways of arranging flowers in wire structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Personalized Floral Grid Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-vase.md) - [Copper Tubular Minimal Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroyuki-yuasa.md) - [Floating Stem Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lotus-effect-vase.md) - [Delicate Colorful Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delicate-colorful-vase.md) - [Illusory Planter Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rooted-planter.md) - [Stackable Clay Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torre-vases.md) - [Greenery-Inspired Textured Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaf-textured-ceramic-vase.md) - [Sculpturally Provocative Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vibrant-sculptural-vase.md) - [Chandelier-Shaped Self-Watering Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfwatering-vase.md)
