The metal framework design holds the objects in place while giving the appearance that the shelf is almost floating in space. The design of the 'Field' shelf makes use of [negative space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siembra-capsule) by opting to use metal rods to create the framework, instead of more solid planks of wood or other materials. THe rods are bent into different shapes to create rectangular pockets to house items such as books, magazines, vases and more. From the front the rods look straight creating the illusion of floating, but it is only to the side that consumers are able to see that the rods are bent into different shelves and ledges. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Illusory Wire Shelves:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop wire shelves that use negative space to create the illusion of objects floating, offering a unique and visually striking storage solution. - **'field' Bracket Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design metal frameworks using rods bent into different shapes to create visually appealing storage pockets, revolutionizing conventional shelving systems. - **Creative Use of Negative Space:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of negative space in furniture design to create visually stunning and space-saving storage solutions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate illusory wire shelves and the creative use of negative space into furniture manufacturing to offer customers unique and eye-catching storage options. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Use the 'Field' bracket design concept to create visually striking storage solutions for interior design projects, revolutionizing the way objects are displayed and stored. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace the concept of illusory wire shelves and creative use of negative space to develop innovative and visually appealing home decor products that stand out in the market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Mobile Illuminating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/for-a-fleeting-moment.md) - [Versatile Modern Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/utility-shelf.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [Modular Grid-Style Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bend-shelf-by-spenser-atlas.md) - [Folding Steel Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md)
