# Japanese Garden-Inspired Furniture The Wire Series by Norm Architects Features Planters and Lamps By Meghan Young | Published 2015-06-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-series References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/wire-series-norm-architects-menu/) & [normcph](http://normcph.com/) The Wire Series is as simply named as it is simply designed. And yet there is nothing simple about it. Instead, the pieces making up the Wire Series strike a bold statement both inside and outside of the home. With its [wire base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept) tying in the collection together, it boasts both a planter and [oil lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cordless-collection), two things that can be quite indispensable in the home for many. Designed by Kasper Rønn and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of [Norm Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-tradition) for MENU, the Wire Series was inspired by a visit to a Japanese garden based in Los Angeles, California. Available in three sizes, they turn the plant, herbs and more placed within into works of art that help to elevate the look of a home even more. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Japanese Garden-inspired Design:** Embrace the tranquility and simplicity of Japanese garden aesthetics in product design. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Create furniture pieces that serve multiple purposes, such as combining planters and lamps. - **Elevating Home Decor:** Design products that add an artistic touch and elevate the overall aesthetic of a home. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Incorporate elements of Japanese garden-inspired design into furniture manufacturing processes. - **Home Decor:** Develop innovative products that harmoniously blend functionality and artistic expression. - **Interior Design:** Integrate the Wire Series and similar multi-functional products into interior design projects to enhance the visual appeal of spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wireframed-Based Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lines-series.md) - [Natural Material Gardening Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garden-collection.md) - [Braided Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-tradition.md) - [Woven Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whispers-of-the-wildwood.md) - [Plant-Friendly Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jcp-universe-coloniae.md) - [Minimal Warm Furniture Expansions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karimoku-case.md) - [Illusory Planter Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rooted-planter.md) - [Posh Plant-Supporting Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ample-plant-light-n1.md) - [Plant-Cultivating Home Furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-4.md)
