The app projects a user's desktop onto a colorful background, providing an immersive way to interact with the traditional interface. In this way, viewing the functions on a desktop is described like having an IMAX screen at the ready. With a virtual reality headpiece in place, a user can even type out emails via this VR view. Virtual Desktop also makes it possible to watch videos on an immersive, cinematic screen, as one might on a large-screen computer monitor. Within this app, there's also support for 360-degree video content, which is ideal for tapping into some of the free virtual reality videos that have now been uploaded to [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/viture-pro-headband). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Multimedia](https://www.trendhunter.com/multimedia) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Virtual Reality Desktops:** Virtual Desktop brings a new level of immersion to the traditional Windows desktop, providing disruptive innovation opportunities for improving productivity and enhancing user experience. - **Immersive Interface Interaction:** The use of virtual reality headsets to interact with desktop interfaces opens up disruptive innovation opportunities for developing more intuitive and engaging user experiences. - **360-degree Video Content:** The integration of 360-degree video content into virtual reality desktops creates disruptive innovation opportunities for immersive entertainment experiences and creative content creation. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Technology:** The technology industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by incorporating virtual reality desktops to enhance productivity tools and user interfaces. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can leverage virtual reality desktops and 360-degree video content to create immersive cinematic experiences and new forms of interactive storytelling. - **Media and Communication:** The media and communication industry can utilize virtual reality desktops to revolutionize video conferencing and online collaboration, providing a more immersive and engaging remote working experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Device-Streaming Productivity Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/windows-app.md) - [Augmented Reality Projection Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetop.md) - [Workplace-Focused Metaverse Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quest-v37.md) - [Dedicated Spatial Computing Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetop-g1.md) - [3D-Rendering VR Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prospect-irisvr.md) - [Sports Event Virtual-Reality Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xtadium.md) - [Headset-Free VR Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dimenco-srprodisplay.md) - [Travel-Inspired VR Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/othersight.md) - [Compact Featherlight VR Headsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bigscreen-beyond-headset.md)
