# Parasol-Like Lighting Wind by Vibia is a Floor Lamp Made Out of Fiberglass By Meghan Young | Published 2012-02-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wind-by-vibia References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/get-out-wind-by-vibia/) & [vibialight](http://www.vibialight.com/) Wind by Vibia is an outdoor floor lamp that recently received Wallpaper* Magazine’s 2012 Design Award. Shaped like a parasol, it would make a simple and stylish addition to anyone's patio, poolside or backyard. Not only does it shed light, it also provides shade throughout the day. Designed by Jordi Vilardell, the light and airy outdoor lamp is made out of the same material as its [predecessor](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vibia-wind-lamp): fiberglass. The fiberglass was woven in such a way as to shed a soft glow when used. Wind by Vibia also includes acrylic diffusers. Its swivel screen allows for versatility, easily changing its direction as needed. A blend between traditional and contemporary, Wind by Vibia fuses modern materials with a classic design for a piece of furniture that is beautiful and practical. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Outdoor Lighting:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the outdoor lighting industry by creating more aesthetically pleasing and multifunctional designs. - **Fiberglass Furniture:** The use of fiberglass in furniture design presents an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the furniture industry, combining durability and lightweight materials. - **Swivel Screens:** Swivel screens offer a versatile lighting solution for both indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the lighting industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can capitalize on the trend of parasol-like lighting by creating innovative products that combine aesthetics and functionality. - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore the use of fiberglass in designing outdoor furniture that is durable, lightweight, and aesthetically pleasing. - **Design:** The design industry can leverage swivel screens to create innovative lighting solutions that adapt to the changing needs of consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Umbrella-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-lamp.md) - [Opulent Outdoor Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gubi-seine-portable-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Outdoor Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solae.md) - [Marine-Grade Sun Shades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shibumi-shade.md) - [Lantern-Inspired Soft Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fermob-lighting.md) - [Umbrella-Resembling Playful Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rain-man-lamp.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Ecological Dual Lampshade Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-light.md)
