# Dolphin-Inspired Armchairs Wild Design Creates Furniture Modeled After the Animal Kingdom By Michael Hines | Published 2011-03-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-design References: [wild-design.designshuffle](http://wild-design.designshuffle.com/portfolio/luxury-designed-furniture-zoomorphic-collection/cobra-armchair-orange/d-furniture/) & [wild-design.designshuffle](http://wild-design.designshuffle.com/portfolio/luxury-designed-furniture-zoomorphic-collection/cobra-armchair-orange/) [Wild Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-joy-furniture) has to be my favorite conceptual furniture company. Wild Design recently released some conceptual renderings of their latest chairs, which feature everything from scorpion-inspired seating to bird loungers. Normally, [animal-inspired designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ark-collection) consist of a cheetah or leopard-print covering a couch or a chair. Wild Design has kicked things up a notch by designing all of their furniture in the shape of animals. The best part about Wild Design's collection is its variety. Furniture is modeled after [marine mammals, reptiles and even insects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giorgetti-maserati-edition). Despite the fact that the line is purely conceptual, the Wild Design collection is one that I have high hopes for. Their furniture has a fresh and original look that should help separate Wild Design from the myriad of other modern designers out there; not to mention the fact that the featured cobra chair looks incredibly cool *and* comfortable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal-inspired Furniture:** Creating furniture in the shape of different animals can be a disruptive innovation opportunity for furniture companies looking to stand out in the market. - **Conceptual Design:** Embracing conceptual design can help furniture companies to generate fresh and original looks that differentiate their brand from others. - **Comfortable Seating:** Combining aesthetic design with comfort in seating can be a great disruptive innovation opportunity for furniture companies looking to attract customers. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** This article focuses on Wild Design, a furniture company, but any furniture company can benefit from trying animal-inspired furniture, conceptual designs, and comfortable seating products. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals might be inspired by Wild Design's creative and innovative designs to come up with unique ideas that stand out from their peers. - **Fashion and Textile Design:** Fashion and Textile designers have an opportunity to explore the concept of animal-inspired fabrics or styles in their work after seeing how wild design has implemented the idea in furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wilderness-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/habitat-collection.md) - [Reimagined Monolithic Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fossil-furniture.md) - [Posh Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quella-chair.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Sea Creature-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seat-urchin.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Mountain Atelope-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jomo-tariku.md) - [Seashell-Inspired Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traditional-and-digital-techniques.md) - [Terrarium Stool Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-stool.md)
