The system works by placing sprinkler equipment on a schedule in order to conserve water and ensure plants never go too long without getting essential hydration. The system will take hyper-local weather data into account in order to adjust how much water is dispensed to keep plants supported. The Spruce WiFi Sprinkler Controller also works with up to 16 [moisture sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oko-sensor) that can be used to help optimize the watering schedule even further by only providing hydration when it's actually required. This will fine-tune watering capabilities, reduce unnecessary [water use](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqara-smart-valve-controller-t1) and save money at the same time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Smart Home Irrigation:** The integration of IoT technology and hyper-local weather data in sprinkler systems presents opportunities to optimize water usage and support plant health. - **Moisture-sensor Technology:** The use of moisture sensors in sprinkler systems allows for precise and efficient watering, reducing water waste and improving cost savings. - **Water Conservation:** The emphasis on water conservation in smart irrigation systems offers an opportunity to address sustainability concerns and promote responsible water usage. ### Where This Applies - **Smart Home Technology:** The development of advanced irrigation systems aligns with the growing market for smart home technology and automation. - **Agriculture:** The integration of moisture-tracking irrigation systems in agriculture can lead to more precise and efficient irrigation practices, improving crop yields. - **Landscaping:** The use of smart sprinkler controllers with moisture sensors presents a viable solution for landscapers to maintain optimal plant health while minimizing water usage. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Plant Hydration Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growcube-smart-watering-system.md) - [Connected Smart Hose Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-hose-timer-starter-kit.md) - [Plant Watering Smart Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growcube.md) - [Automated Plant Irrigation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-irrigation.md) - [Miniature Plant Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plant-monitors.md) - [Self-Watering Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leafypod.md) - [Whole-Home Smart Water Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moen-smart-water-network.md) - [Climate-Controlled Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-flower-system.md) - [Automatic Leak-Prevention Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flo-smart-water-monitor.md)
