# Geometric Wicker Architecture The Wicker Pavilion by Dja Blends into Its Surrounding Landscape By Jana Pijak | Published 2020-08-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicker-pavilion References: [archdaily](https://www.archdaily.com/944591/wicker-pavilion-dja) The Wicker Pavilion by DJA is located in the heart of Jardins de l'Europe in Annecy in France. The pavilion was designed for the Annecy Paysages landscape architecture festival -- a festival DJA is participating in for the third year in a row. Fusing a bold geometric structure with traditional manufacturing techniques, the pavilion draws inspiration from its surrounding natural landscape and is intended as a shelter or [tranquil space for park visitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3to1-pavilion). Whether seeking shade from sunlight or a spot to relax, visitors are encouraged to enter the pavilion that allows [natural light in while filtering it](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paviljong-rosendal) through its geometric openings. These openings also modulate light, creating artful shadows on the surrounding grass. The Wicker Pavilion's is crafted using a "[timber grid shell structure technique](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-flax-pavilion) and cowered with 262 traditional wicker baskets in a cone shape." The structure's timber shell is "weaved by Latvian craftsmen" while its structural support is the result of six layers of pine tree planks.
