The Whitehouse Park building in Singapore is separated into three [boxed sections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-trace), each of which has a specific function. This was done after the architects were faced with the challenge of building the house with such a [narrow space allowed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stealth-house), since roads run by on either side of the structure.

According to The Contemporist, "the 3 boxes were, in turn, expressions of clear groupings defined by function: the social spaces, the bedrooms and the support facilities. The [screen walls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-under-the-poplars) become a function of their role in defining these and guiding movement through the site." Therefore each area has a purpose, which needed to be done considering the limited space available for the building of the house.
