The Patternity brand re-imagined its existing monochromatic graphics and translated them into this [3D black and white playground](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/play-pavilion). This installation titled 'Connected by Pattern' was erected for the annual London Design Festival 2015. The brand had previously created six graphics for [Paperless Post](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paperless-paper-7inch-e-ink-frame), which is reflective throughout the entirety of this artwork. The idea for this art was to present flat graphics as 3D objects that encourage creativity and curiosity within the audience. Dezeen notes that:"surfaces are patterned with stripes, dots and grids. Mirrors along one side extend the patterns and the black floor is also reflective to pick up the graphics around the space." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Monochromatic Playgrounds:** Opportunity to create unique and visually stunning play spaces using a black and white color palette. - **Abstract 3D Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to bring flat graphics to life and create immersive art experiences. - **Pattern-inspired Design:** Innovative use of patterns and graphics to stimulate creativity and curiosity in art installations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Using abstract concepts and monochromatic palettes to create visually engaging installations. - **Playground Equipment:** Exploring new design aesthetics and materials for unique and visually striking play spaces. - **Event and Exhibition Spaces:** Opportunity to transform event venues with immersive and interactive art installations that captivate audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abstract Colorfully Vibrant Playscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wired-scape.md) - [Landmark-Inspired Sleek Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doha-modern-playground.md) - [Structural Energetic Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago-playscape.md) - [Nature-Inspired Indoor Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sarit-shani-hay.md) - [Public Playground Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/welcome-little-stranger.md) - [Vibrantly Pink Skelter Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stay-playful.md) - [Explorative Artwork Playground Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cuddly-playground.md) - [Heritage Sound Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hornscape-playground.md) - [Generational-Lasting Dynamic Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mike-hewson-2.md)
