# Dog-Shaped Public Seating The Whippet Bench by Radi Designers is Made for Pet Lovers By Meghan Young | Published 2013-12-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whippet-bench References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2013/12/18/Whippet-Bench) & [radidesigners](http://www.radidesigners.com/) The Whippet Bench looks as though it were modelled after a super speedy dog. Moving from one end to the other faster than a speeding bullet, the resulting blur is what makes up the seat itself. Of course, the Whippet Bench is not actually the result of a exceptional dog frozen in time. Instead, it is made out of [solid resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cresta) that has been finished in a multitude of ways. Designed by Radi Designers, a studio based in France, and currently sold by the furniture manufacturer [Galerie Kreo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/signals), the Whippet Bench is comprised of 30 pieces [limited edition pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gufram-x-luna-luna) and five artist's proofs, all of which have been signed and numbered. It also comes in a couple of forms. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Pet-inspired Furniture:** Opportunity for creating innovative furniture designs that draw inspiration from pets, appealing to pet lovers and creating a unique selling proposition. - **Limited Edition Design:** Opportunity to tap into the market demand for limited edition products, providing exclusivity and creating a sense of uniqueness for consumers. - **Alternative Materials in Furniture:** Opportunity to explore the use of alternative materials like solid resin in furniture design, offering durability, versatility, and creative possibilities. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Potential for furniture manufacturers to collaborate with designers and create pet-inspired furniture pieces to cater to the growing pet ownership market. - **Art and Collectibles:** Opportunity for artists and collectors to showcase and sell limited edition art pieces, allowing them to tap into the demand for unique and exclusive items. - **Materials and Resins:** Opportunity for suppliers of alternative materials like solid resin to partner with furniture manufacturers, offering new possibilities and expanding their market reach. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Rollable Bell-Shaped Dog Kennels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poochchair.md) - [Bold Patterned Tubular Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leopard-bench.md) - [Sleek Public Seating Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leftover-bench.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Curvaceous Sculptural Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench.md) - [Industrial Wrapped Plywood Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-bench.md) - [Posh Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomad-juno.md) - [Sculptural Dynamic Two-Person Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bench-for-two.md)
