# Discretely Disguised Guest Beds The Wheelers Cot is a Perfect Reproduction of 19th Century Designs By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2013-01-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wheelers-cot References: [thefancy](http://www.thefancy.com/things/256228716529587589) & [jandrguram](http://www.jandrguram.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=90&category_id=69&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1) Keeping a guest bed doesn't have to mean buying an air mattress or having a full-size bed because the Wheelers Cot is small enough to fit in any space you've got. The accordion-like bed appears to be a simple piece of decorative furniture when closed. However, once the front cabinet door is opened, a full length twin bed is easily set up and perfect for a visiting guest. The Wheelers Cot is a reproduction of a 19th century design that cleverly hides a much needed piece of furniture within a dual-purpose frame, which even allows for storage of small goods like bedding or pillows. Perfect for a basement or even a living room, the Wheelers Cot is just the ticket to make sure you’re prepared when guests arrive. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 84% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Dual-purpose Furniture:** Designing furniture that has multiple uses, such as the Wheelers Cot, creates opportunities for innovative and space-saving designs. - **Disguised Functionalities:** Disguising functional items, like a guest bed, as decorative furniture can add value and appeal to consumers who have limited space. - **Vintage Reproductions:** Reproducing vintage designs, like the 19th century-inspired Wheelers Cot, can add a unique and nostalgic touch to modern furniture pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture industry can create innovative designs by incorporating dual-purpose functionalities and disguised features, especially for consumers with limited space. - **Home Decor:** Home decor businesses can differentiate themselves by offering vintage-inspired pieces, such as the Wheelers Cot, to add a unique and nostalgic touch to modern homes. - **Hospitality:** Hospitality businesses can benefit from multi-functional furniture pieces, like the Wheelers Cot, to maximize space and accommodate more guests in smaller rooms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hidden Murphy Bed Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonale-murphy-bed.md) - [Overhead Storage Single Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otto-cobbo-bed.md) - [Space-Saving Convertible Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coddle-luke-sleeper-sofa.md) - [Motorized Sofa Wall Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tonale.md) - [Toddler-Convertible Cots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parry-cot.md) - [Stackable Campsite Cot Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/convertible-cots.md) - [Multifunctional Revolving Wall Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resource-furniture-1.md) - [Space-Saving Sleeper Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-fabric-sleeper-sofa.md) - [Collapsible Flatpack Crib Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bababing-bedside-travel-crib.md)
