# Console Storage Expansion Packs Western Digital Unveils its New Xbox Series X Expansion Cards By Kanesa D | Published 2023-06-07 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/western-digital References: [polygon](https://www.polygon.com/deals/23670137/xbox-series-x-western-digital-wd-black-c50-expansion-card-buy) & [westerndigital](https://www.westerndigital.com/en-ca) [Western Digital](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wd-black-sn770m) has officially unveiled the 512 GB and 1 TB WD Black C50 expansion cards. Players of the [Xbox Series X](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seagate-storage-expansion-xbox) or [Series S](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elite-series-2) consoles can utilize the WD Black C50, which will function just like the internal storage, to give their console a chunk of extra space for files, games, and more. Many modern console games require substantial storage space due to their high-quality graphics and extensive content. The base storage capacity of consoles may not be sufficient to accommodate a growing library of games, resulting in the need for expansion cards. These cards provide additional storage capacity, allowing gamers to install and store more games without having to delete or manage existing ones. Western Digital's 512 GB card costs $79.99, while a 1 TB card costs $149.99 as a starting price. The new expansion cards serve as a competitor for the already-popular Seagate cards, which are priced similarly according to storage size.
