After 30 house tours of the residence first built in 2003, the interior designer had the idea of creating her own sanctuary. The structure is a great backdrop for a soulful expression as it highlights a plethora of artwork, heirlooms, and graphic prints that showcase personality. Dunlop highlights its potential, sharing "Despite being a dated Mediterranean-style home, it had great bones, expansive space, and the kind of grounds that are perfect for entertaining. “I could immediately envision the transformation. It was clear this house was more than just a property; it was a canvas to create something special.” Image Credit: Ania Dunlop ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 27% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Soulful Design:** The integration of artwork, heirlooms, and graphic prints in home renovations highlights the trend of creating spaces that express individual personality and history. - **Personal Sanctuaries:** Homeowners are increasingly looking to transform their houses into sanctuaries that reflect personal comfort and well-being, as seen in the Westchester family home renovation. - **Modernizing Mediterranean:** Transforming dated Mediterranean-style houses into modern and functional homes is a growing trend, demonstrating the blending of classic architectural elements with contemporary design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry is seeing a shift towards personalized and meaningful home spaces, as families seek interiors that tell their own unique stories. - **Home Renovation:** Home renovation services are increasingly catering to the demand for transforming outdated homes into modern, versatile living spaces without losing the original charm. - **Luxury Real Estate:** The luxury real estate market is evolving to offer properties that are not only opulent but also serve as customizable canvases for homeowners to infuse with their distinct taste and lifestyle. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colorful Home Refurnishments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amy-pigliacampo.md) - [Renewed Heritage Estates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kilmory-house.md) - [Functionally Elegant Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/old-westbury.md) - [Modern Vibrantly Designed Craftman](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/craftsman-house.md) - [Hillside Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hollywood-hills-home.md) - [Modern Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-meadows.md) - [Adaptive Family Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no-ordinary-house.md) - [Hotel-Inspired Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amsterdam-zuid.md) - [Renovated Red-Brick Montreal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diandra-maselli-architect.md)
