# Entangled Egg-Shaped Nests The Weevyr Birdhouse was Made to Mimic Authentic Avian Abodes By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-02-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weevyr-birdhouse References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/52842/) & [supermarkethq](http://supermarkethq.com/product/weavyr) The designer of the Weevyr Birdhouse did not follow the fowl's customary procedures or use the usual materials to construct her lovely avian abode. The egg-shaped suspended shelters have been inspired by the [weaver birds' dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-plan-vi-call-duck) of twigs and roots, but the assembly of this object proves to impress with a method as meticulous as the original's. Believe it or not, the entire structure of Shruthi Shashidhar's bird house has been made with just [one strand of extruded porcelain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nesting-room). The spaghetti-like element is gradually and painstakingly wound around and around to construct the oblong form of a hollow sphere. The resultant texture of the Weevyr Birdhouse is an [intricate intertwining](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs) of the lengthy ceramic string that produces an exquisite practical and decorative object for installation in or outdoors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Avian-inspired Architecture:** Opportunity for architects and designers to explore unique and innovative birdhouse designs inspired by avian dwellings. - **Single-strand Construction:** Potential for manufacturers to experiment with using single strands of materials to create intricate and durable structures. - **Practical Decorative Objects:** Market for practical and visually appealing objects that serve both functional and decorative purposes. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can incorporate avian-inspired elements into their projects, creating unique and captivating structures. - **Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore the use of single-strand construction techniques to produce novel and visually striking products. - **Home Decor and Lifestyle:** Opportunity for retailers to offer practical decorative objects that enhance both indoor and outdoor living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Greenery-Surrounding Lush Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-house-1.md) - [Bird-Inspired Speaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birdinspired-speaker.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Sustainable Bird House Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-bird.md) - [Floating Duck Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-plan-vi-call-duck.md) - [Futuristic Curved Islandic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-2.md) - [Wooden Minimal Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-boxes.md)
