# Weather-Forecasting Umbrellas The Tarabrella is a Smart Umbrella with a Multitude of Functions By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-06-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weather-forecasting References: [cnet](http://www.cnet.com/news/is-a-smart-umbrella-a-dumb-idea/) & [indiegogo](https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tarabrella-the-world-s-first-super-umbrella) This weather-forecasting umbrella is unique and could be helpful to those who tend to lose their umbrellas regularly. The weather-forecasting umbrella alerts the user about whether they should take an umbrella out with them by displaying three different symbols -- a blue for "rainy," a white for "sunny" and one that alternates between the two to represent "cloudy." The umbrella also has a variety of other features including a very lightweight "ergonomic design handle," an LED light and an anti-loss tracker. The tracker could prove particularly useful since umbrellas are not items that are used often and are therefore easy to forget about and leave behind. This weather-forecasting umbrella could prove itself useful for people who like their belongings to have a multitude of predicting features all in one -- including safety and utility features. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Smart Umbrellas:** The integration of weather forecasting and other smart features into umbrellas presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the umbrella industry. - **Anti-loss Trackers:** The use of anti-loss tracker technology in everyday items like umbrellas presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the tracking device industry. - **Multifunctional Products:** The development of umbrellas with multiple features and functions, such as weather forecasting and LED lights, presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the product design industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Umbrella Industry:** The integration of smart features and advanced technology into umbrellas opens up new opportunities for disruptive innovation in the umbrella industry. - **Tracking Device Industry:** The application of anti-loss tracker technology in various everyday items, such as umbrellas, presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the tracking device industry. - **Product Design Industry:** The creation of multifunctional products, such as umbrellas with additional features like LED lights and weather forecasting, presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the product design industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Umbrella-Affixed Tracker Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-airtag-accessory.md) - [All-Weather Protection Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weatherman-trek-umbrella.md) - [Flying Umbrella Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-umbrella.md) - [Connected Dual Functioning Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hulasol.md) - [Expertly Crafted Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-green-umbrella.md) - [Designer-Approved Vibrant Weather Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vibrant-weather-accessories.md) - [Hyperlocal Weather Forecasting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rainbow-weather.md) - [Livery Resort-Inspired Umbrella Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trina-turk.md) - [Space-Inspired Folding Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloombrella.md)
